How we earn money

Many of the outbound links on Daily Fragrance Scout are affiliate links provided through affiliate networks and direct merchant programs. If you click one of these links and make a purchase, the merchant may pay us a commission. You pay the same price either way — the commission comes out of the merchant's marketing budget, not your pocket. These commissions are how the site is funded.

Commissions never affect organic ranking

The order of organic results is determined by the deal itself — discount size, freshness, and community signals such as votes and reports. How much (or whether) a merchant pays us a commission plays no role in that ordering. A deal from a merchant that pays us nothing can and does outrank a deal from a merchant that pays us well, if it is the better deal.

Sponsored placements

Separately from affiliate commissions, merchants and partners can pay for promotional placement. These paid slots are always labeled "Sponsored" wherever they appear, so you can always tell paid placement apart from organic results.

How outbound links work

Outbound merchant links on this site pass through our /go redirect. When you click one, we count the click for statistics, then immediately forward you to the merchant — attaching our affiliate tracking code where a program exists. The redirect exists so we can measure which deals people find useful; the details of what is recorded are described in our privacy policy.

FTC compliance

This disclosure follows the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's guidance on endorsements and material connections. That guidance is also why you will see a short disclosure near outbound links throughout the site rather than only on this page: a disclosure only counts if you can actually see it where it matters.
